On 6th November 2015, Bimeda were pleased to continue their support for the xL Vets Skillsnet programme, by sponsoring a farmer event on the topic ruminant nutrition. The event is part of a series of talks sponsored by Bimeda and was attended by 40 farmers. The event was conducted with All Creatures Vet Clinic in Roscommon and was a great success.
The speaker on the night was nutritionist Peter Bone, who is an expert in trace element deficiencies, toxicities and interactions in ruminants. Peter spoke about common trace element issues in Irish ruminants and dealt with the themes of diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
In Ireland, high molybdenum levels contribute to rumen-copper depletion in ruminants in many areas. Peter always recommends Bimeda's CoseIcure soluble glass boluses to tackle this issue, as they are the only boluses which supply rumen-available copper. They have also been proven in trials to significantly improve fertility and productivity in ruminants. The boluses also supply iodine, selenium and cobalt at a continuous rate for up to five months.
