Bimeda are pleased to announce the launch of their new educational website: Bimectin.com. The website provides information on parasites and parasitic diseases, resistance and responsible use, and best practice solutions for the control and treatment of parasites in livestock and horses. Bimeda’s Bimectin range of anthelmintics also features on the site, though farmer and horse-owner education is the key priority for the company.
Bimeda Technical Vet Padraig Hyland commented; ‘Parasite control is a key issue for every livestock farmer and horse owner. From lungworms in cattle, to intestinal worms in sheep, threadworms in piglets and pinworms, ascarids and bots in horses, parasitic diseases create a number of issues, including impaired productivity for animals and increased stress levels and veterinary costs for their owners. By launching this website, we have created a central information hub where farmers and horse owners can go to gain a greater understanding of numerous parasitic diseases and what they can do to treat and control them’.
Mr Hyland added, ‘Bimeda’s Bimectin brand offers an excellent range of ivermectin-based anthelmintics for cattle, sheep, horses and pigs and these have been a key part of the parasite control and treatment strategy of Irish farmers and horse-owners for a number of years. Information on these products, along with detail on the relevant diseases they are licensed for, can be found on our new website. We were also extremely pleased that a number of satisfied users offered testimonials, detailing their positive experiences with the Bimectin products, and these are also featured on the website’.
Products aside, the Bimectin website is an excellent resource for gaining a greater understanding of parasites and key parasitic diseases. The site also offers a ‘news and technical advice’ section which is updated with seasonal advice on parasite control.
