Based on current log volume forecasts, there isn't sufficient log supply to satisfy a viable wood energy and processing sector even in the short-term.

We will fall well short of the 8.0 million m3 required to ensure a viable wood processing and energy industry, unless we carry out a min. annual afforestation programme of 15,000ha instead of the 7,000ha provided for in the current budget.
