All roads lead to Ballinrobe Racecourse on the 18th & 19th of May for the second Annual Connacht Spring Show, which promises to be one of the best shows to be held in the West of Ireland in recent years.
Incorporating the Connacht International Sheep Shearing Championships, the Spring Show will boast a comprehensive and diverse range of exhibitions and displays, and foremost among them will be the Ectofly Sheep Show.
Sponsored by Bimeda’s Ectofly Sheep Pour On, the Ectofly Sheep Show will cater for 10 different breeds of sheep as well as having a commercial section. There will also be sheep dog demonstrations.
Bimeda Ireland Sales Manager Andrew Glynn comments, ‘We are delighted that Ectofly Sheep Pour On is sponsoring this prestigious event again this year. Ectofly Sheep Pour On is ideal for the prevention and treatment of blowfly strike on sheep. It is also used for the treatment and control of head flies, and treatment of ticks and biting lice on sheep, and we are proud that Ectofly is again associated with this superb event.
We would like to invite anyone attending the event, to come along and chat to our Bimeda Sales Representatives, who are passionate about rural life in Ireland and animal health and welfare.
Following the success of last year’s cattle show, this year’s show has been extended to 30 classes with the top feature been The Connacht Gold €1000 Commercial Heifer Class. We are also introducing a Best Butchers Heifer Class as well as the Best Commercial Bullock Class and both of these classes will carry a prize fund of €500.
This event will encompass all aspects of farming and rural life,” said one of the organisers Paddy Rock. “It will bring everyone who is connected in any way with farming and rural Ireland to the same venue, so it is very much a one-stop-shop for farmers and their families.
This year’s show will feature strongly on a family fun day and will contain lots of novelty events most noteably The Irish Open Egg Throwing Egg Throwing Championships, Sheep Racing, Bouncing Castles and much more and will be run by Western Care who are our associated charity. There’s also a Connacht tug-of-war competition with teams competing from all over the province.
The Connacht Spring Show promises to be an unforgettable weekend with lots more events to be announced in the coming weeks.
